From the outside, the 2012 Presidential campaign’s digital presence and online tools were flawlessly coordinated and immaculately prepared, easily connecting voters and volunteers with the campaign. On the inside, a mission-driven team fought through long hours, chaos, creativity, laughs, and tears with a scrappy work ethic like you’d find at a great startup.
Notes:
A great panel group. Some very impressive introduction histories.
Sometimes you have to “manage up” to get people at the organization excited about sharing information. But, you need to have a singular/core message. Test the assumptions.
Remember that your fans love you (mostly). There are things that you would never want share, but a little bit of transparency can go a long way.
Game theory to avoid burn out:
- Level up
- Move to something else
- Bring in others
Great story about keeping Twitter up during the Iranian elections (even though they risked losing the system by not applying a patch).
