Revolutionizing conversations: AI chat integration on YaleSites
Megan Bygness Bradley — Four Kitchens
Randy Oest — Four Kitchens
Our condensed five-week journey is an epic tale of innovation and collaboration, where Drupal becomes the canvas for a groundbreaking AI experience.
Notes:
- Yale told them they need to be a “leader in AI”
- “Everyone here id already playing around with AI… and you have 5 weeks”
- Was Four Kitchens first major AI project
- Who?
- Multiple (near a dozen) back-end engineers for both Azure and Drupal
- Multiple dedicated testers
- Started low stakes by focusing on hospitality(meal plans, etc…)
- Spent a lot of time editing the content to make it better for the AI reader
- Ends of making the content for humans as well
- Can look at “numbers of tokens”
- More scannable, more readable, cheaper to scan for AI
- Had an entire team “red team” trying to get the bots to break, or get bad answers
- When they found outdated content – it signaled that old pages on the site needed to be removed
- Think of AI as a sibling to search
- Still want easily digestible content
- But, it also helps to have a haystack backing up the content
- To make the bot as trustworthy as possible the add “citations” to every answer
- This also helps with testing and keeping things up-to-date
