What would Scooby do? Uncovering the real mysteries about your audiences to improve experience… and it starts with you.
Some of us go to great lengths to understand and truly get to know our audiences. Through community management and regular engagement, to audience research and user testing. There are many ways that we can — and already do — seek to know them better and empathize with them through our content.
Notes:
- Unfortunately, my laptop died. Noted might not cover much.
- Analytics is important for backing up / reviewing your expectations, but it is not audience research.
- How do find out the things that they don’t even know they want/need?
- Influences – the most important ones to consider are ‘distraction’. What. Is keeping them from your content?
- Facts – keep checking these
- Assumptions – test these
- Mysteries – solve these
- Do this with post-it or cards. Things we consider to be facts are often assumptions.
- Curiosity is the enemy of assumption.
