Now for some first impressions
I will add real images as soon as I can grab (another) camera.
- The button wiggle is odd – like something from Yoshi’s island.
- You can even move the icons on the “dock”.
- The bookmark to home screen is awesome – it even makes a custom icon from each page.
- Still no .edu button option – so sad!
- The map location seems way off, but there are other added map controls literally under the page (click the eye for it to fold up).
Update: Custom Icons
Learn how to make one for your site here. Click the second-to-last link that says “Create a WebClip Bookmark Icon”.
- Here is one for www.pcc.edu.
- And one for this site.

You’re right, the button wiggle is really weird…I had heard about it before, but hadn’t seen it in action until he new vid they posted. Definitely Nintendo-like!

I payed good money to get that same “button wiggle” in Las Vegas. Your right it was a little weird, but impressive none the less.

I’m having stability issues since upgrading. Seems like I’ve had to reboot like 5 times and some of the apps keep failing, sending me back to the finder. Er, Home.
I’m less concerned about the .edu since that’s only 4 taps on the same screen. I’m still waiting for them to allow a background page in safari to automatically refresh – thus keeping your wireless access alive. I submitted feedback and posted to apple discussions about it, but I feel like I’m the only one who wants to use wireless for more than 60 seconds per login. :)

@Andy,
What apps are crashing on you?
Safari still occasionally fails when I have several large pages open, but the other apps seem more stable then ever.
I agree that they need to allow background pages to load/run scripts. This would solve several issues and allow you to work on one page while loading another. However, this is not a necessity for a stable WiFi connection – thus the reason that you haven’t found much info on the discussion boards. It would be better to simply fix our system.
Have you tried bookmarking a PCC page to the home screen? I added a favicon, er “Apple Touch Icon”…
Andy Says:
I’ve had the camera crash twice so far, and yesterday I had this weird situation where I took out my phone and it said “NO SIM.” Apparently I didn’t get any calls all afternoon because of it. Rebooting solved it, but kind of annoying.
Safari crashes with some frequency, but that’s to be expected.
