Bicycle to Bagby Hotsprings

Monday, March 21st, 2011

Last day of winter. First day of spring. Super Moon?

It seemed like a good time to go bicycle camping. John, Jamie and I packed up the bikes, parked in Estacada and started riding the 40 uphill miles to Bagby hotsprings.

We were hit with hail and rain along the way. At the top, there was still a foot of snow.

However, it was all worth it. The route along the Clackamas River is breathtaking even when in a car. A bicycle’s pace makes it all-the-more enjoyable. Plus, the tubs at Bagby quickly soothed out any pain that we had built up along the way.

As a bonus, Sam and Katie met up with us later that evening – with refreshments and pizza. Soaking on a cool night with good friends, drinks and pizza? Life is good.

Way to go! Sounds like a great trip even in that weather. I’d probably wait until summer to try it myself.
Looks like the round communal tub is still intact–that’s great. A bunch of us soakers met with USFS & told them how bad it was for them to destroy the log tubs. We’re hoping for better management plans in the future.
